Gipuzkoako Dantzagunea will host from March 22 to 28, 2025 the research laboratory El Encuentro, directed by the performer, pedagogue and choreographer Joseba Yerro. This proposal seeks to explore how dance can reach communities not necessarily linked to dance practice, proposing a new approach to the transmission of movement.
In El Encuentro, Yerro will investigate the connection between the body and knowledge through movement, drawing on her experience with influential artists and techniques such as Hofesh Shechter, Saburo Teshigawara, Gaga, Feldenkrais and Gestalt. The laboratory will take place in a natural environment, exploring textures, sensations and bodyscapes as a means to create a deep and sensory experience for both performers and participants.
One of the main goals of this project is to blur the barrier between the performer and the spectator, creating an accessible dialogue between both roles. Is it possible for the audience to be an active part of a dance piece? How can we make them perceive what the performers are investigating bodily, without losing their role as observers? These are just some of the questions that will guide this laboratory.
On March 25, 26 and 27, from 10:00 to 14:00, those interested will have the opportunity to participate in this unique laboratory, which will work collectively to open the bodily senses and generate a shared experience that fosters unity among participants.
